Sunderland Hangar

The project was to demolish the offices on the inside of the hanger, then remove Asbestos Super Six from around the whole building. This hangar was 14 meters high and 60 meters wide and used to house the Sunderland plane when it came into Hobsonville Point. The hanger was scaffolded to an engineer’s design and shrink-wrapped to manage air release.

The base structure was required to remain in tact due to heritage protection so air monitoring and swab samples gave this building its full clearance.
